Kura Bolinger, MA, LPC
LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR, SUPERVISED BY LAUREN BORRELL (E.1700057-SUPV)
I (she/her) am committed to offering unconditional positive regard to everyone who enters my shared therapeutic space. It is my deepest privilege to hold this space for others. I believe that each person is the expert of their own experience, and it is my responsibility to listen with empathy, understanding, and respect as we navigate the challenges they bring.
It is important for me to approach therapy through multicultural and anti-oppressive lenses, rooted in person-centered and compassion-focused theories. This means I focus on recognizing and honoring the intersecting identities my clients hold, while also considering how societal systems impact their well-being, access to resources, and opportunities. As a white, cisgender woman, I am aware of the pervasive nature of oppressive and White Supremacist systems, and I acknowledge my responsibility to understand and confront these systems, as well as the privilege I hold within them.
As a counselor, I strive to empower my clients by highlighting their strengths and supporting their personal growth through providing a warm and safe space for sharing their most vulnerable thoughts and feelings. When it comes to diagnosis and treatment planning, I prioritize collaboration, ensuring that clients' voices are central to the process. I approach these conversations with a deep awareness of the stigma often attached to diagnoses, and I work alongside clients to establish meaningful and individualized goals for their journey.

Range of clinical focus:
I am a queer, neurodivergent woman living in a fat and able body. I grew up in a small, conservative, central Indiana city (traditionally Myaamia/Kiikaapoi/Kaskaskia/Bodwéwadmi territories), and after leaving and returning following undergrad, my small family relocated to Columbus in 2021. When not with clients, I can be found reading (or listening to an audiobook) or engrossed in a new craft project. I am a millennial with a passion for collective liberation, and I have pursued work in the mental health field in large part because of the incredible therapists I have gotten to work with in my own personal therapy.
Personal
I graduated from Northwestern University with my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in December 2024. As a career-changer, I have had the opportunity to work in multiple environments, including the non-profit sphere and the wedding industry. Through my unique professional experience, I bring a strong background in working with clients as individuals and partners to identify their needs and guide them through the process of executing their goals and outcomes. Pursuing the child specialization track at Northwestern and past experience working with youth gives me a unique perspective and ability to introduce play into sessions with people of all ages.
I value ongoing training and education. Recently, I have participated in the following training experiences:
Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy Externship, September 2024
All Ohio Counselor Conference, October 2024
Training & Experience
Licensed Professional Counselor, C.2506735, Counselor, Social Worker, & MFT Board, 2025
