COUNSELOR TRAINEE, SUPERVISED BY ADAM CLEVENGER (E.1901569-SUPV)
I (she/her) believe in providing unconditional positive regard for each person who steps into my shared therapeutic space and feel it is my greatest privilege to hold that space for them. I recognize that I cannot know a person better than they know themselves, so it is my responsibility to empathize and understand the issues they bring in within the scope of their experiences. I strive to work from a multicultural and anti-oppressive frame of practice rooted in person-centered theory, which to me means understanding the intersecting identities that clients hold and how the systems surrounding them impact their distress and their access to opportunities and resources. As a white, cisgender woman, I know that oppressive and White Supremacist systems are pervasive through all aspects of society and that I have a responsibility to understand those systems, their impacts, and the privilege I hold because of them. I strive to uphold these values as a counselor by empowering and uplifting my clients through their strengths. My approach to diagnosis and treatment planning is rooted in collaboration with the client and with a consciousness of the stigma and effects that come with diagnoses. I like to work on treatment through goals established in collaboration with clients.

Range of clinical focus:
I am a white, queer, neurodivergent woman living in a fat and able body. I grew up in a small, conservative, central Indiana city (traditionally Myaamia/Kiikaapoi/Kaskaskia/Bodwéwadmi territories), and after leaving and returning following undergrad, my spouse and I relocated to Columbus in 2021 with our little human and many pets. When not working with clients or studying, I can be found listening to an audiobook, crocheting, or engrossed in whatever new craft activity I have started. I am a millennial with a passion for collective liberation, and I have pursued work in the mental health field in large part because of the incredible therapists I have gotten to work with in my own personal therapy.
Personal
I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University on a Child Specialization track.
As a career-changer, I have had the opportunity to work in multiple environments, including the non-profit sphere and the wedding industry. Through my unique professional experience, I bring a strong background in working with clients as individuals and partners to identify their needs and guide them through the process of executing their goals and outcomes.
Pursuing the child specialization track at Northwestern and past experience working with youth gives me a unique perspective and ability to introduce play into sessions with people of all ages.
