Emily Remnant, MA, LPCC
LICENSED PROFESSIONAL CLINICAL COUNSELOR
Hello, my name is Emily (she/her) and I genuinely love the work of therapy, both as practitioner and client. I believe effective therapy begins with an authentic and safe counselor-client connection and includes heart and humor whenever possible. A Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), I specialize in relationships – whether romantic or sexual, the relationship you have with your new or growing family, your family of origin, career, friends, larger systems, and your relationship with yourself.
I see adult clients of all ages, couples/relationship therapy, and older adolescents ages 14 and up. Using therapy techniques primarily from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, person-centered, and narrative therapy, I work to meet individual and relationship needs using a trauma-informed lens where safety is the priority. Your therapy goals are as important to me as they are to you. We will work together to determine a comfortable pace for self-exploration and expansion.

Trauma
I am a white, straight, cisgender woman, in an able body. I am a parent to a human child and one very bad cat. I spent over a decade in Columbus after coming to the city in 2010 to pursue my Masters in Counselor Education at The Ohio State University. After our child was born, my partner and I relocated to our hometown of Dayton, OH to be near family. I enjoy making the trip back to Columbus every Wednesday to see my Tandem Columbus colleagues and clients, and to grab dinner in the city! In addition to my love of spending time and working with people, I am passionate about music, food, yoga, design, and learning about and growing Ohio native plants in my garden.
Personal
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I completed my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a Minor in Psychology in 2010, and my Master of Arts in Counselor Education in 2012. I am also a licensed School Counselor in the state of Ohio, and an EMDR trained clinician. With 12 years experience working in middle and high schools prior to joining private practice, I am skilled at working with the big, adolescent emotions that stay with us throughout our lives.
