Caroline Feldkamp, MA, MFT
Hello, I'm Caroline (pronouns: she/her/hers). My career as a therapist is deeply rooted in my belief that mental healthcare is necessary. I have loved every day of this career knowing that I am aiding others in this too often neglected facet of health. If we work together, I want this space to feel safe and comfortable, as I know that being vulnerable can be a scary feeling. I encourage my clients to grow and challenge themselves, but always attempt to protect their emotional well-being in the process by striving to foster a safe and empowering therapeutic environment where clients feel heard and respected. I believe that the best therapy is collaborative, and fostering a genuine therapist-client connection is important to me with all of my clients. Laughter and tears both hold such value in this space!
My theoretical approach is rooted in a person-centered perspective, emphasizing the uniqueness of each individual. I primarily utilize the framework of cognitive-behavioral therapy, but I also integrate and draw from psychodynamic, systemic, and narrative approaches when it feels appropriate for the needs of my clients. In diagnosis and treatment planning, I prioritize collaboration and transparency, viewing diagnosis as a tool for understanding rather than labeling. I emphasize culturally sensitive and trauma-informed care along with a sex-positive framework. I am passionate about creating a therapeutic space where clients can freely explore and become the fullest version of themselves. No matter what you come to this space with, it's always an honor to walk alongside my clients as they navigate life’s challenges and celebrate their successes.

Range of clinical focus:
I am a born and raised Ohioan! I am originally from Cincinnati, which is still my favorite city to this day. When I’m not seeing clients I have a series of hobbies that I enjoy, such as cooking elaborate meals for my friends and family, trying new yoga classes, hiking, finding any excuse to start a new arts and crafts project, or setting up the next meeting for my book club.
As a cisgender, white, able-bodied individual, I am committed to acknowledging and reflecting on these identities in my work. I understand the importance of cultural sensitivity and strive to provide a space that respects and embraces diverse identities and experiences.
Personal
I believe that in order to hold myself to an ethical standard of care, I must continuously seek out new knowledge and experience within this field. Some recent trainings that I have completed include:
Access to Lethal Means (April 2024)
Discernment Counseling (January 2024)
Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (May 2024)
I plan to continue receiving additional training throughout my career to expand the scope of my practice. Additionally, I intend to pursue licensure from the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) within the coming year. Through this licensure program, I hope to deepen my knowledge of the world of sex and sexuality, so that I may be better informed to serve any issue or topic that may arise with my clients.
My personal journey has shaped my passion for this work, and as a result, I enjoy working with clients who have decided to begin or continue a journey of strengthening their mental health, either individually or as a couple. Additionally, I hold passion for helping clients explore sexuality, including sexual orientation, sexual traumas, and sexual intimacy concerns. I also have an additional passion for working with children with behavioral challenges or mental health struggles, as I formerly worked in an elementary school setting.
As a person who has both experienced significant traumas and has witnessed many people I love endure their own traumas, I hold trauma-informed care at the center of my practice. I always want my office to feel like a safe space, and I understand how intimidating it can feel to open up about things we often try not to think about. If I am able to, I would be honored to be a part of your healing journey.
I have experience working with Poly/nonmonogamous relationships, LGBTQ+ individuals and couples, and people from a myriad of different backgrounds and experiences. If I am unfamiliar with any part of your experience, I will aim to educate myself on any topic as needed.
